While Alma and Matthew Lebrato were anticipating the birth of their baby the week of Christmas, their baby had other plans.

Their son, Diego Mateo, arrived with a bang as the first baby born in 2020 at White River Medical Center (WRMC) in Batesville.

On Dec. 31, Alma was admitted for delivery. At 7:11 a.m. on Jan. 1, he made his debut weighing in at 7 pounds, 4.6 ounces, and 19.5 inches long.

When asked if Diego came right on time or as a surprise, Alma said, “Right on time. Well, a week late, but in the grand scheme of things, it was perfect timing.”

Diego is Alma and Matthew’s firstborn child, however, they think their hound dog, Buddy, will be really excited for the addition to the family.

“We are so appreciative of the knowledgeable and supportive staff at WRMC and the wonderful community in Batesville,” said Alma.

Mommy and baby are both doing well. Alma and Matthew were excited to start the New Year with their new bundle of joy at home.
