Round three of the Lady Southerners and Lady Pioneers will take place in the District Championship game Saturday night at 6 p.m. as the Southerners beat the Highland Lady Rebels 59-42 Thursday night.
The Southerners showed a little rust from the two-week layoff and trailed by nine early in the first quarter before settling in and taking a 10 point lead into the halftime break.
The Southerners led by as much as 21 in the second half before closing the door on the Lady Rebels.
Olivia Allen had the hot hand for the Lady Southerners with 17 points, London Cuzzort had 11 and Reese Gardner chipped in 10.
The win gave the Southerners 22 wins, the most in seven seasons.
Brookland and Westside will play for the Boys’ Championship following the girls’ game.
Brookland upset conference favorite Blytheville for the second time in seven days and Westside held on to beat Valley View in the other boys’ semifinal.
