Sen. Sturch: Financial help to be available for small businesses and individuals hurting during COVID-19

State Sen. James Sturch of District 19, which serves a great deal of north central Arkansas, says he sees and understands that assistance is needed for small businesses and individuals in the state.

For instance, the governor recently told nail, hair, and spa salons as well as tattoo parlors and massage therapists to close until further notice. The concern was their operations did not lend itself to the needed separation of business employees and customers.

Yet the rent or lease payments go on as well as the utilities, and assistance is needed  for many business owners/operators and employees in Arkansas to pay their personal bills.

Senator Sturch said there is such assistance available.

“The Federal Government now has come out and said through the Small Business Administration, they’ll be helping out with loan-type programs as well as assistance for small businesses who are experiencing hardships and employees who are experiencing hardships, whether they were laid off or whether they are having to stay home with children, or whatever it might be,” Sturch told White River Now.

“We are trying to put out as many resources as we can on my page. The governor’s Facebook page and his website, as well as the Arkansas Health Department [website], should have links to all those different things that are going on.”

The senator says information on those links changes daily and that Arkansans should access those links on a regular basis.

“Do be mindful that there are ways to help most Arkansans who are in need right now,” he said.
