WRMC Cardiology, located at 16 Hospital Circle, Suite A, recently welcomed Crystal Allen, APRN(pictured), as a provider. Crystal works alongside Dr. Richard Van Grouw, MD, Cardiologist.
Allen rounds on hospitalized patients and performs cardiac consultations in the hospital setting. In the clinic, she works closely with Dr. Van Grouw and Wil Moore, APRN, to provide cardiac care. The clinic focuses on disease treatment and education for a variety of cardiac illnesses including coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, and arrhythmias.
Allen has been an employee of WRMC for 16 years. She has held roles as a Clinical Technician, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and Clinical Lead Registered Nurse (RN). Her experience in healthcare is very beneficial in her role as a Nurse Practitioner.
Allen obtained a Technical Certificate of Practical Nursing and an Associate of Nursing from the University of Arkansas. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington. She recently completed her Master of Science in Nursing from Maryville University.
Crystal previously worked as a receptionist for Dr. Van Grouw. During her time at the clinic, she became very fascinated with the cardiac specialty and was encouraged to pursue higher education.
“Now that I have completed my educational pursuits, I look forward to assisting in the care of our cardiac patients by combining years of lessons learned from my mentor (Dr. Van Grouw) with modern, evidence-based practices,” said Crystal. “I hope to be the kind of provider who inspires patients to take an active role in their treatment plan.”
An Arkansas native, Crystal graduated from Cord-Charlotte High School. She and Phillip, her husband of 16 years, have three sons: Dawson, Peyton, and Gavin.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the White River Health System is taking extra precautions to ensure the safe delivery of medical care. For appointments not requiring treatment, patients can utilize WaveLink, WRHS’s telehealth service. If a patient needs to be seen in the clinic, patients are asked to call in advance and wait in their car until the staff calls them back for their appointment. Each patient is screened before entering the clinic, and all staff and patients are to wear masks during the appointment. The staff is deep sanitizing between each patient and has spaced out appointments to allow for additional cleaning.
