Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens said the investigation of an incident in which a deputy is shown on video losing his temper during a domestic call should be completed by Friday.
The sheriff said early Thursday morning he’s waiting on the citizen complaint form to be completed by the couple involved in the call and returned to his office.
The June 21 incident started with a 911 call to a Bethesda residence about a couple allegedly fighting. After the deputy was dispatched to the scene, the situation apparently escalated, and the wife involved in the call began to video the incident.
In the video, which has been widely circulated, the deputy can be seen yelling and agitated, while pointing his Taser and apparently attempting to enter the residence. The deputy then says he is going to arrest the woman making the video. A short time later, a man appearing to be Sheriff Stephens arrives on the scene to help calm the situation, and the video goes to black.
The deputy involved in the incident was placed on administrative leave on Monday. The sheriff said on Monday that at that time, he preferred not to release names in the incident since the deputy involved has been receiving threats.
