According to information from the Stone County Circuit Court, on May 23, investigators with the Mountain View Police Department were reviewing phone calls from the Stone County Detention Center through the recorded inmate telephone call system.
The court information noted the investigators found a call between a jailed defendant, Damion Jackson McBride (pictured), 42, and the known victim of a separate criminal proceeding.
McBride is subject to a “no contact order” prohibiting him from having any contact with the victim, the court info said. The order was issued by Stone County District Judge Jacob Newton, and the defendant signed it.
The court record said investigators went on to identify 27 phone calls, 12 video chats, and 95 text messages between McBride and the victim. The information said numerous messages and phone calls show McBride both threatening the victim and requesting the victim to change their sworn statement given to law enforcement.
Those recordings were made part of the investigative file on McBride. He has been charged with two felonies: intimidation of a witness and tampering.
McBride was originally arrested on May 2, 2020, on the charge of aggravated assault on a family or household member, another felony.
McBride is currently in custody and has been placed on a $10,000 bond. He is also being tried under the habitual offender law.
