Citizens Bank’s “Celebrate America,” which comes to Batesville’s Riverside Park Saturday for its 23rd year, is a celebration with many changes in 2020, thanks to the coronavirus.
Ashley Engles with Citizens Bank says the huge fireworks display will begin at 9:15 p.m. on Saturday — but there will be many changes this year.
“This year, we are having to downsize, you know, to keep everyone as safe as possible,” Engles told White River Now. “And working with the city, the state, and local health [officials], we just decided to keep everyone safe and not to have the food and vendors. That means no food trucks that we [usually] have during the day. No children’s inflatables, or the fun waterslides. No live band. The restrooms in the park – they will not be available, but we have certified Porta Pottys from Hal Hooper with A-1.”
At the park, citizens will be expected to exercise social distancing and are being asked by event sponsors to wear face masks in respect to the wishes of the governor and Arkansas Health Department to do everything possible to avoid the spread of the coronavirus.
Highly regarded as one of the very best fireworks shows in the state, the fireworks will again be choreographed to music that will be broadcast on White River Now radio station Arkansas 103.3 KWOZ.
