Jonesboro television station KAIT Tweeted Thursday night that officials have found the iPhone of a missing Jackson County woman. The station reports Sheriff David Lucas said the phone was located a quarter mile from Sydney Sutherland’s home and Highway 67 without damage. Reporter Jurnee Taylor of Region 8 News Tweeted that the search for Sutherland has ended for the night due to safety reasons. Taylor also said authorities believe Sutherland was not hit by a car because of “lack of evidence.”

Lucas told Taylor authorities “have exhausted all of their leads and done all they can do,” in terms of a ground search and will meet Friday morning to review what they’ve learned and what needs to be done next.

Taylor also Tweeted that Lucas said officials are not ruling anything out, including a possible abduction.

Sutherland (pictured above), 25, was last seen between 2:30 and 3 p.m. Wednesday, jogging in the area of Jackson County Road 41 and State Highway 18. Lucas said that information came from a UPS driver who told authorities early Thursday morning.

Earlier Thursday, Lucas requested that anyone who had been on Highway 67, near the windmill at Exit 87, between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday and noticed anything to contact officials immediately.

Sutherland’s residence is on Highway 18 between Newport and Grubbs. Sutherland is known to walk or jog a loop in that area — County Roads 41, 42, 43, and Highway 18.

Lucas said authorities are concentrating the search in that area because of information from the public and pings from her cellular account. The sheriff’s department has been in touch with Sutherland’s cellular carrier and Apple. Besides carrying her iPhone, Sutherland was also wearing her Apple Watch at the time. Her vehicle and other personal items were still at her home.
