The Batesville Police Department released a summary of recent activity in the city.
Lock your car and take your keys. That’s always good advice. Advice that a Mountain View resident didn’t follow during a recent trip to Batesville when that person left their vehicle unlocked with the keys inside.
The vehicle was stolen along with a credit card that was in the stolen vehicle.
Police developed a suspect based on someone attempting to use the card at two Batesville businesses. The stolen vehicle was recovered by the Memphis Police Department in that city. The case is still under investigation

Another case under investigation involves the theft of several thousand dollars in tools from a local truck shop in Batesville.
Police say a shop employee arrived at work when the suspect was still on the property. The employee gave a description of the vehicle the suspect used.
Later, the vehicle was discovered abandoned with all of the stolen tools still inside.
The tools were returned to the shop, but a suspect has now been developed, and the case is still under active investigation, according to a BPD spokesperson.

On Dec. 8, Batesville Police learned an active probationer would be coming into the city, and she would be in possession of methamphetamine. The woman also had an active warrant for her arrest.
The suspect, identified by the BPD as Calia Rhodes, 23, was stopped for speeding and placed under arrest on the warrant.
At the time, Rhodes admitted to having meth in the front of her pants, according to the BPD. She was taken to jail where she was placed on a $100,000 bond.

On Dec. 9, an employee of Vapor Maven contacted the BPD concerning an “illegal” shipment the business had received. The illegal products shipped contained THC, the main psychoactive compound found in cannabis that produces the high sensation, and came from a Springdale, Ark. warehouse.
The products were seized by the BPD which opened an investigation into the incident.

A suspect has developed in a recent case of an angry customer at a Batesville fast-food restaurant’s drive-thru window.
Upon reaching one of the windows, BPD officials said the subject was reported as being angry and yelling vulgar statements at a restaurant employee.
Apparently, the subject then reached up and tore a clear plastic protection screen from its mounting and placed it inside his vehicle.
The employee was able to record the license plate of the man’s vehicle as it drove away, and police developed a suspect from the information.
The case is still under investigation, and an arrest is expected.
