Richard (Richie) August Turinsky, 80, of Mountain View, Arkansas, and formerly Grand Haven, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021.
Richie was born on Aug. 14, 1940, in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Richard and Martha (Dressler) Turinsky.
Richard was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country in both the Berlin and Cuban Missile Crisis. Richie spent his working career as a Tool and Die Maker and could be found taking care of animals or Catch and Release fly fishing in his free time. He will be remembered for his philosophies, intellect, realism, quick wit, and outgoing personality. He mentored countless individuals throughout his life and walked with them as they became productive members of society. He will be greatly missed by all of his loving family and friends.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Marion (MacLeod) Turinsky; his daughter, Martha Golliver and her husband Matt of St. Louis, Missouri; four siblings, Barbara Detrick of New York, Linda McFadden of Michigan, Eric Turinsky and wife Arleen of New Jersey, and Nancy Icenhower of Delaware; two grandchildren, Preston and Victoria Golliver of St. Louis, Missouri and a host of many loving extended family and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Martha (Dressler) Turinsky.
Friends will hold a private memorial service honoring Richard’s life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make tax-deductible donations to the Stone County Humane Society or the Rosco P. Coal Train’s Community Outreach.
