Authorities say a man at a local chicken processing plant brought more than lunch in his lunch box to work on Saturday.

Batesville Police were called to Peco Foods on March 13 regarding a male subject apparently having a firearm on company property. According to the arrest affidavit, Peco employees contacted a manager about a fellow employee, identified as David Bauman (pictured), 41, who was claiming he had a firearm.

After running Bauman’s name through the Arkansas Crime Information Center, officers were informed Bauman was a convicted felon as well as an active felony probationer with a search waiver on file.

The affidavit said officers were led to Bauman and not only found a loaded Cobra .380 caliber handgun in his lunch box, but also digital scales, a smoking device, and two separate containers containing a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana.

Bauman was booked into the Independence County Jail on a bond of $5,000. Counts include felony possession of firearms by a certain person, criminal use of a prohibited weapon, possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance with the purpose to deliver, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
