Three motor vehicle accidents this week in north Arkansas have resulted in the death of three individuals.
State Police Fatal Crash Summary reports say the first of the three accidents occurred Wednesday, (March 24, 2021), in rural Baxter County on State Highway 5.
According to Arkansas State Trooper Philip N. Gonten, a 1994 Chevrolet driven by the victim, Bert Hart, 69, of Mountain Home, was traveling east on County Road 15, approaching State Highway 5. The second vehicle, a 2021 Ford was traveling south on Highway 5.
According to Gonten’s report, the Chevrolet failed to stop at the intersection, struck a stop sign, and then struck the passenger side of the southbound Ford.
Gonten said the Chevrolet then crossed both lanes of highways, before coming to rest in the ditch on the west side of Highway 5. No other injuries were reported.
Gonten said the weather was clear, and the roadway dry at the time of the accident.
The second fatal accident in the area also occurred Wednesday afternoon. According to the Arkansas State Police Preliminary Fatal Crash Summary, a 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Blake Brown, 25, was traveling on Herpel Road in rural Stone County with Haley Amico, 27, also of Mountain View, as a passenger.
The summary said when a 2004 Ford backed out of a private drive onto Herpel Road, Brown was unable to maintain control of his Harley-Davidson, causing the front of the motorcycle to collide with the side of the Ford.
Amico was transported to UAMS in Little Rock for treatment of injuries she sustained in the accident, the summary said. The driver of the Ford was not reported as injured.
The state police noted weather conditions were sunny while the road was dry at the time of the accident.
A third fatal accident occurred Thursday morning, March 25, just before 10 on Highway 9 North and Camp Circle in Fulton County. I
traffn his preliminary report, Arkansas State Trooper First Class Blake Johnson said a 2003 Dodge southbound on State Highway 9 North crossed the centerline and struck a Peterbilt 18-wheeler going northbound.
The driver of the Dodge, Ronda Lee Rucker, 55, of Mammoth Spring, was killed in the accident. No other injuries were reported.
Johnson said the weather was cloudy, and the roadway was wet at the time of the accident.
