Cave City High School Radio/TV students sweep audio competition at ASU Creative Media Day

Cave City High School radio/TV students recently swept all three audio competitions at Arkansas State University’s 2021 Creative Media Day, Friday, April 9. The event was held online with a live broadcast from the ASU Media Studios.

According to Ben Johnson, instructor and general manager at the school’s radio station, KVMN, Erica Chappell nabbed the gold in long-form audio competition. The silver award went to Ann Moser while the bronze was awarded to Mason Green. Honorable mentions in long-form audio included Cole Mitchell and Eliza Westmoreland.

Mitchell won the gold in the audio spot category. The silver went to Chris Bunch while Chappell was awarded the bronze. Honorable mentions went to Green, Eliza Westmoreland, Cheyanne King, Stevie Scheffler, Evan Lovell, and Ann Moser.

And Westmoreland was awarded gold in the category of audio voice talent. Mitchell received the silver and Scheffler and Chappell tied for the bronze in the category. Honorable mention was awarded to Noah Brooks.

In addition to the Caveman domination of the audio categories, other Cave City students were recognized in video competitions during Creative Media Day.

Justin Crenshaw received the gold in the video talent competition. The team of Thomas Greathouse and Ian Sanders brought home the bronze in the long-form video category. And Briawana Finney earned honorable mention in that category.

Creative Media Day involves students from area high schools and colleges who are invited to submit media entries to participate in various media-based contests from radio and television to print and photography.
