Three longtime entertainers from the world of country music are performing at this year’s Independence County Fair.
Thursday night finds Ronnie McDowell (pictured above, left) gracing the county fair stage. McDowell came to prominence after his 1977 tribute to Elvis Presley, “The King is Gone,” was released. Since then, McDowell has released a string of country songs including “Older Women,” “You’re Gonna Ruin My Bad Reputation,” “Watchin’ Girls Go By,” “Personally,” and “In a New York Minute.”
Friday, Arkansas’s own Collin Raye (pictured, top right) will perform. The DeQueen native has had hits such as “That’s My Story,” “Love, Me,” “My Kind of Girl,” and “Little Rock.”
And then Saturday, Jimmy Fortune (pictured, bottom right) will entertain fairgoers with his wide variety of country music. For 21 years, Fortune sang tenor for The Statler Brothers and wrote one of the group’s most famous songs, “Elizabeth.” His latest album is entitled “God & Country.”
All performances begin at 8 p.m.
