Greers Ferry boating accident kills one, injures another

One person was killed and another injured Saturday morning on Greers Ferry Lake after a boat struck the shoreline.

According to a social media post from the Heber Springs Fire Department, Heber Fire Boat 1, along with four members of the department’s dive team, were dispatched to a reported boating accident near the area of Bay Shore Drive in Greers Ferry.

Upon arrival, the department reported two people were found to be on board a vessel that had struck the shoreline.

One person was flown by Survival Flight to a trauma center while the other occupant was declared deceased on scene, the department said.

Heber Fire was able to receive pinpoint information from Cleburne County 911 center that aided responders in quickly locating the incident.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. No names of those involved in the accident have been released.
