Obituary: Dennis Willard Jones

Dennis Willard Jones, 68, of Cord passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021.

Dennis was born in Saint Joseph, Michigan Dec. 13, 1953, to the late Willard Wilburn Jones and Delia Geneva (House) Jones.

Dennis was of Baptist faith and served the Lord Jesus Christ with a humble and loving heart. Since birth, Dennis has lived with complete and total blindness. Dennis did not let his disability limit his life. He graduated high school and the School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Dennis loved to barbeque and work on small motors, but his biggest passion was ham radio. He was a long-time member of the Batesville Area Radio Club, call sign “K-E-5-T-A-Q”. He lacked one more certificate from being as highly certified as a person could be for ham radios.

Dennis is preceded in death by both of his parents; his paternal grandparents, Casey and Cora May Jones and his maternal grandparents, Dee and Delia Lacy House; and his niece, Paula Mechele Carson. He is survived by his brother, Terry Jones; his sister, Mary Marie Butler; and his nephew Caleb Ward Carson.

Willis Funeral Service of Batesville, AR will host a visitation Friday, June 25, 2021, from 1-2 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Hopewell Cemetery in Cord, AR immediately following the funeral. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Rodney Broyles, Troy Driggers, Wayne Berry, Jerry Whitehead, Mark Smedley, and Jeffery Mitchell. The family would like to recognize the following persons as honorary pallbearers:  Cecil Ray House, Gary Jones, John Michael Jr., James Tharp, Kerry Tharp, Jerry Jones, and Ray Anderson.
