Ozarka College’s culinary program recently held its annual Teen Cooking Camp for ages 12-16.

Each participant worked in teams to cook four-course age-appropriate meals each day. The theme of the camp was Mise en place, a French term for having all your ingredients measured, cut, peeled, sliced, grated, etc. before you start cooking.

Participants of the camp received an apron, chef hat, recipe binder, and a journal in which each future culinarian could keep tasks of the day including safety and sanitization rules, cutlery education, and portion control tips.

“It was really exciting to watch each student embark on a journey into the world of farm to table,” said Dr. Amy Lynn Queret-Mitchell, Ozarka College’s director of culinary programs. “I am very honored to have the opportunity to share the love of cooking with the next generation of Ozarka students.”
