Nelson Edward Lovejoy of Mountain View, Missouri, a former native of Newark, Arkansas, passed Tuesday, July 20, 2021. He was born on Oct. 7, 1951, in Batesville, Arkansas at Dr. Gray’s Hospital.
He attended Newark High School.
Lovejoy was retired from the Army, where he served over 25 years as a Logistician, retiring in 1997. He served over 10 years in Europe, with 5 being on the former East/West German border with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment during the fall of the Iron Curtain, reuniting East/West Germany in Fulda, Germany.
Lovejoy was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Ellis and Lena Elizabeth (Hassell) Lovejoy; three sisters, Winnie Lovejoy, Lena Juanita Lovejoy Guerrero, and Annette Lovejoy; and one brother, L.J. Lovejoy.
Lovejoy is survived by two daughters, Crystal Annette Lovejoy Buck and Tabitha Allison Lovejoy Croft, both of Texas; one son, Steven Edward Lovejoy of Germany; his significant other, Debra Gerard, of the home; four cousins, Debra Lovejoy Reynolds of California, Janie Lovejoy Sneed of Sulphur Rock, Arkansas, Lois Talley of Newark, Arkansas, and Edward Narce Hager of Desha, Arkansas.
Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Friday at Edwards Cemetery in Newark.
