Danny Edward Davis Sr., 72 of Saffell passed away Monday, Aug. 30, 2021.
He was born April 13, 1949, in Searcy, Arkansas to Lewis Franklin and Patsy Jo (Pate) Davis. He was a Christian, Veteran, Husband, Daddy, and Pa.
He was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Lynn.
After graduating high school at Bradford, he joined the U.S. Army and served from 1968-1974, 6 years of active duty with 1 1/2 years in Vietnam. He received an honorable discharge with a status E5 and many awards for his service. Danny went on to technical college for welding and auto body and eventually became self-employed in auto body for 25 years. After moving to Saffell in 1997, he farmed with his sons and then drove a big truck for 15 years before retiring. He enjoyed his family, camping and hard work. Danny was saved before joining the Army at age 18 and rededicated his life after coming home from Vietnam. His motto in life to his children and family was “I’ll Be Right There”.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two nephews, Mark Snowden and Brian Snowden, and a son-in-law, Jeremy Owens.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Maronda Davis of the home; three sons, Danny Davis Jr. (Dana) of Grubbs, Boue Johnson (Brandi) of Strawberry and Eric Johnson (Amber) of Saffell; two daughters, Carrie Owens of Searcy and Mari-Lyn Aguilar (Michael) of Conway; one sister, Barbara Foster of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren, Nicholas Davis, Shaylee Davis, Jordan Bristow, Micah Wood, Brady Owens, Milo Owens, Cole Johnson, Carly Jo Johnson, Jaxon Johnson, Jasper Johnson, Jocelyn Aguilar, Charlotte Jordan, Zachary Jordan, and Jessica Hefner; one great-grandchild, Chloe Hefner; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Lynn with Bro. Jerry Chandler officiating. Burial will follow in the Dry Creek Cemetery at Lynn with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
Pallbearers will be Danny Davis Jr., Boue Johnson, Eric Johnson, Cole Johnson, Jon Wiggs, and Stan Yingland.
Honorary pallbearers are Jamie Wallace, Ronnie Cagle, Carrie Owens, Mari-Lyn Aguilar, and all his grandchildren.
