The Southside Southerners dominated the Mayflower Eagles 42-7 in their home opener Friday night at Stewart Field.
Running behind a dominant offensive line the Southerners racked up 324 rushing yards on 43 carries with six rushing touchdowns, scoring on seven of nine offensive possessions.
Senior QB Landon Haas had 135 yards and three touchdowns on just 15 carry to lead a Southerner ground attack that seen seven players with at least 20 rushing yards.
Southside opened the game with a 70-yard drive to take a 7-0 lead.
The defense was stout all night long against the wing-T offense of the Eagles and the Southerners scored on their first four possessions of the first half to put the game out of reach by halftime 28-0.
Southside moves to 1-1 on the season and will play the Trumann Wildcats at home next week, before moving to the bye week.
