The Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) and the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville (UACCB) teamed for a ribbon-cutting ceremony for UACCB’s new Workforce Training Center.
The ceremony was held last week in conjunction with the college’s annual community picnic
UACCB opened the center in January 2020, but had limited capacity due to COVID-19 restrictions.
UACCB partners with the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce, area businesses, and industries to respond to industry needs. Training programs combine classroom learning with hands-on work that allows learners to gain experience in their desired field, BACC said in a media release.
“The Workforce Training Center provides students hands-on experience that replicates industry best practices. These are world-class educational opportunities in our backyard,” said Zach Perrine, the interim chancellor and the vice chancellor for student affairs at UACCB. “This center is a key part of our area’s economic development because these programs are available to adults and high school students. Regardless of where someone is in life, UACCB has a way for them to get involved.”
Ambassadors in attendance included: Mandi Babbini (Centennial Bank), Jesse Cargill (UAMS North Central), Kyle Christopher (Kenny Allen State Farm), Adam Curtwright (Centennial Bank), Amy Finster (White River Medical Center), Genafer Foree (Goodwill Industries), Tammy Foster (First Community Bank), Brittney Harris (Independence County Off Road ATV), Lindy Hopper (First Community Bank), Dana Millikin (White River Now), Courteney Muse (Southern Bank), Justin Russell (Bank of Cave City), Madelyn Smith (David’s Home and Sleep Center), Becky Warren (UACCB), Chad Whiteaker (White River Now), and Kim Whitten (UACCB).
