Sherri Poplawski, 61, of Newport departed this life on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021. She was born Nov. 14, 1959, to Winton and Lima Fay (Black) Piercy.
Sherri loved cooking and looked forward to the holidays when her family would get together and enjoy her delicious cooking and her renowned pecan pie. She was also quite the artist and loved to paint. Throughout her life, she was known to take in injured wildlife and nurse them back to health. It was not unusual to go into her home and see an owl, baby deer, or squirrel along with all the domesticated animals she had throughout the years. She truly was a lover of all animals. One of her hobbies included collecting cows, she had a kitchen full of cows. The most important thing in Sherri’s life was her children and grandchildren who she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her biological parents, Clarence William Ford and Annie Jane Chaney; her daughters, Tabitha Darby and Tina Copeland and her brothers, Todd and Billy Ford.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Poplawski, of the home; her daughters, Melisha McCorkle (Zach) of Newport, Vickie Mann (Phillip) of Newport, Samantha Walling (Preston) of Newport; brothers, Butch Smith of Newport, Joe Ford (Dana) of Newport, Johnny Ford (Diann) of Newport, Ernest Ford of Newport, Tony Ford of Newport; sisters, Janna Sloop of Dardenelle, Patsy House of Flippin, Sue Chandler of Ft. Smith; grandchildren, Katie McCorkle, Corrie Mann, Mackenzie Mann, Robert Walling, Emily Walling, Chandler Walling, Dalton Madden, Sheyanne Ringley, Kristi Copeland and special friend, Erica Sweeney.
Memorial service will be Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. at Dillinger Funeral Home.
