Authorities investigating after woman found deceased in Cave City residence

An investigation is underway after a 21-year-old woman was found dead inside a Cave City residence Tuesday afternoon.

According to a release from Sharp County Sheriff Mark Counts, dispatch received a 911 call regarding a deceased female at the residence around 5:30 p.m. When county and city officials arrived on the scene, the body of Katelyn Hodges was found inside the residence.

The release said the man who rented the residence, identified as James Thompson, was arrested on an unrelated offense and transported to the Sharp County Jail.

Hodges’ body has been sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy to determine the manner and cause of death.

Sheriff Counts said this is an ongoing investigation by his department and the Cave City Police Department.

More details will be released when they become available, the release said.
