The Batesville School District is making 100 hotspots available throughout Independence County to help students in rural areas connect to the internet.
With that connection, students who are forced to remain home can utilize the Alternative Method of Instruction and stay connected with the work they would normally do in the classroom.
Cheston Cooper, the district’s technology director, recently told White River Now’s Gary Bridgman Emergency Connectivity Funding was utilized for the hotspots that will use cell phone signals from Verizon, the district’s provider, to provide internet access to students in such remote sections of the county.
Cooper visited with Bridgman on a recent episode of Pioneer Update, heard on 93 KZLE and Arkansas 103.3 KWOZ, sponsored by First Community Bank.
