Leroy Daniels of the Hickory Grove Community departed this life on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at the age of 82. He was born August 22, 1939, in Newport, the son of Joseph Benjamin “J.B.” and Rosie Jane (Turner) Daniels.
He was a graduate of Tuckerman High School. He had worked many years at Brown-Jordan and as a farmer. He was a member of Campbell Station Baptist Church and was a talented song leader.
He was a true farm boy. He loved raising rabbits, chickens, and spending time with his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna (Brooks) Daniels; one stepson, Mikey Arnold; one brother, Marvin Daniels; eight sisters, Thelma Jones, Phyllis Billings, Selena Tatum, Lillie Daniels, Faye Pierce, Myrtle Lucy, Eunice Daniels, and Wilma Gray; and his parents.
He is survived by one brother, Wayne Daniels and wife, Ann of Newport; three stepchildren, Margaret Clark, Diane Vise and husband, Charles, and Lesley Arnold; a special nephew, Rodney Moorehead; one brother-in-law, Keith Billings of Hickory Grove; one sister-in-law, Bonnie Daniels of Hickory Grove; a host of nieces and nephews; his church family; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Monday morning, 10:00 a.m. until service time. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Charlie Churchman officiating. Interment will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
