Larry McCloud Sr., 75, of Newport departed this life on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. He was born February 28, 1946, to Arie and Verva Cleo (Evins) McCloud.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church at Gourdneck. He was a farmer and loved farming. He also loved driving race cars and had raced cars locally at the drag strip in Newport for years. Watching westerns was a favorite pastime; he especially liked “Gunsmoke”. He was quite the outdoorsman; he enjoyed deer hunting, duck hunting and fishing. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He enjoyed being a grandfather more than anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Elaine; his brothers, Sanford and Floyd; and his sister, Laverne.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sue McCloud; sons, Dale McCloud Jr. (Michelle) of Newport, John McCloud (Robin) of Cabot; brothers, David McCloud of Newport, Lonnie McCloud of Heber Springs, Walter McCloud of Heber Springs, Charles McCloud of Palos Hills, Illinois, Danny McCloud of Jacksonville, sister, Janie Bennett of Heber Springs, fifteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Service will be Thursday, January 6, 2022, at 2:00 at Calvary Baptist at Gourdneck. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time at the church.
