In a rare conference doubleheader, the nightcap saw the Southside senior boys take on third-ranked Blytheville. Ayden Cuzzort had 4 in the opening quarter as the Chickasaws led after 1st, 8-6.
The Southerners outscored the Chickasaws in the second quarter with four more from Cuzzort and Curtis Sutton to trim the lead to 1 heading into halftime, 17-16.
The third quarter was more of the same back and forth action as the Southerners took the lead twice, but the inside game of 6’9″ swingman Rashaud Marshall helped Blytheville take a 33-28 lead at the end of the third. The Southerners were down six with 6 minutes to play when Blytheville spread the court and converted a couple of quick baskets, forcing the Southerners to chase the ball and leaving Marshall under the basket, who had six in the final quarter, sealing the 50-32 win for the Chickasaws.
Ayden Cuzzort led the Southerners with 13 for the game, Jacob Longo added six.
