Mary Ruth (Stallings) Oberg, 75, of Harrisburg departed this life on Sunday ~ January 23, 2022, at NEA Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born on November 6, 1946, in Caraway, Arkansas the daughter of Milo and Mary Elizabeth (Simpson) Stallings.
She married John W. Oberg on November 3, 1967, and they enjoyed 48 years before his passing in 2016.
Her parents preceded her in death and she was also preceded by two brothers: Wesley “Buck” Stallings and James Stallings, one sister, Altie Mae Miles.
She retired from Elementary School in Harrisburg after 16 years of service in the cafeteria. She was of the Assembly of God Faith, enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, going to flea markets. She loved going to church and truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by two sons: John and wife Sharon Oberg of Harrisburg and Don and wife Gina Oberg also of Harrisburg, one brother, Leo Stallings of Caraway, Arkansas, one sister, Laurabell Minnick of Lunsford, Arkansas, six grandchildren: Tyler (Lauren) Turner, Justin (Alex) Turner, Hayley (Kenan) Plunk, Sophia Oberg, Wil Oberg, Eli Oberg, and four great-grandchildren: Wilson Turner, Kaden Plunk, Malachi Plunk, and Leland Plunk.
Visitation will be Tuesday ~ January 25 at Jackson’s Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 P. M. and Funeral Service will be Wednesday ~ January 26 at 2:00 P. M. with Pastor Eddie Passmore and Bro. Jason Goad conducting the service. Active Pallbearers will be Josh Parker, Steve Privett, Darryl Davis, Jason Taylor, Justin Smith, and Greg Wright. Honorary pallbearers will be Nolan Evans and Ruth’s Grandsons. Interment will be in Bolivar Cemetery.
