On Wednesday, February 2, 2022, Rebert Rogers (Bob) Harris, of Searcy, passed away at the age of 86. He was born March 9, 1935, in Clarendon, Arkansas, to Murphey and Lottie Rogers Harris. After growing up in Monroe County, Arkansas, and serving as a US Marine, he met the love of his life, Alpha Turner of Newport while attending Arkansas State University. Bob and Alpha were married on Christmas Day in 1957.
He worked first as a mechanic and later built beautiful custom homes and cabinets. He shared his love of hunting with his son, son-in-law, and finally grandchildren. He always had a soft spot for his pets, including many chihuahuas and most recently a 25-pound cat named Zack. After retiring he could often be found in the garden or mowing his lawn. He loved being out in nature, napping in the porch swing, and Walker Texas Ranger.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alpha Harris, his son Johnny Harris and wife Deanna, of Batesville, daughter Melanie Bowman and husband Brent, of Searcy, one brother Joe Simons and wife Barbara, of Clarendon, and a host of cherished friends across the state. He is also survived by his pride and joy–grandchildren Hayden Bowman and fiancé Emme Edmondson, of Little Rock, and Alli Bowman of Searcy.
Due to pandemic and health concerns, a private funeral service will be held at 2:30 on February 8, 2022, at Dillinger Funeral Home in Newport AR. The family asks for prayers only during this time.
