LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas’ governor is calling for using the state’s surplus to give local law enforcement a one-time $5,000 payment and new equipment as the Republican delivered his last state of the state address.
Gov. Asa Hutchinson kicked off a session intended to focus on the state’s budget Monday with the proposals.
Hutchinson said the one-time payments will cost the state $45 million, and proposed another $10 million to go toward awarding equipment grants to local law enforcement agencies.
