MAUMELLE, Ark. (AP) — Authorities say an Arkansas Department of Correction sergeant has been killed while assisting local law enforcement in central Arkansas.
The department identified the officer as 29-year-old Sgt. Joshua Caudell.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office says deputies went to a reported residential disturbance Monday morning in Maumelle, near Little Rock. Caudell was part of a K9 team assisting the deputies. Police believe someone fled from the home, leading the team to a nearby trailer. The sheriff’s office says a person opened fire from underneath the trailer, killing Caudell.
It says the suspect, 38-year-old Demark Lee Jordan (pictured below), is being sought.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were responding to a residential disturbance Monday morning in Maumelle, just outside Little Rock.
The Department of Corrections sergeant was part of a K9 team assisting the deputies. Police believe someone fled from the home and the tracking dog led authorities to a nearby trailer.
The sheriff’s office says a person opened fire from underneath the trailer, killing the sergeant. Authorities have surrounded the trailer but no one is in custody yet.
The Independence County Sheriff’s Department posted the below BOLO (Be On the Look Out) Alert from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office for a person of interest related to the shooting on their social media earlier today.
