Doris A. (McClellon) Rice, 88, of Harrisburg departed this life on Monday, March 28, 2022, at the Craighead County Nursing Home in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born on February 14, 1934, in McCormick, Arkansas the daughter of Dee McCellon and Martha (Garrett) McClellon Jackson and step-father, Cyrus Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters: Frances Foster, Mary Traynom, Ruby Conder, and Omi Weatherly.
Doris is a member of Oak View Baptist Church in Harrisburg. She enjoyed canning, cooking, baking, and any outdoor activities. She even went hunting with Melvin lots of times and enjoyed riding the four-wheeler. She and Melvin have been married for 67 years and enjoyed the time they spent together.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin Rice of the home in Harrisburg, two sons: Tony (Sissy) Rice of Jonesboro and Alan (Jan) Rice also of Jonesboro, two daughters: Paula (Ken) Miller of Harrisburg and Lisa (Rick) Woods of Trumann, three brothers: Charles Jackson of Gravel Ridge, Arkansas, J. C. Jackson of Poole, Kentucky, and Bob McClellon of California, one sister, Ora Mae Fischer of Stuttgart, Arkansas, several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 30, 2022, from 6:00 until 8:00 P. M. at Jackson’s Harrisburg Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow Thursday, March 31 at 10:00 A. M. in the Chapel. Bro. James Hewitt will conduct the service and Family will serve as Active Pallbearers. Interment will be in Bolivar Cemetery.
