Obituary: Charles William Honey

Charles William Honey of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at 83. He was born October 26, 1938, in Newport, the son of Woodrow and Kathryn (Morris) Honey.

He began working for the Jackson County Road Department when he was 16 years old. He worked there for over 50 years, retiring as Road Foreman in 2005. He enjoyed fishing, working, and raising cattle. He especially enjoyed going to the sale barn. He loved working with his son and grandson on the farm, where he could often be found on a combine. He particularly enjoyed working during the harvest.

He was preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law, Chester “Gub” Honey and June Honey; and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Delois (Fisher) Honey of the home; one son, Michael Honey and wife, Sandy of Newport; one daughter, Kathy (Honey) Camp and husband, Rickey of Greenbrier; one brother, Luther Honey and wife, Patty, of Archer, Florida; eight grandchildren, Shannon Haigwood and husband, Derek of Newport, Kristen Blumreick and husband, Paul of Jonesboro, Honey Breeding and husband, Brandon of Greenbrier, Ashleigh McEntire and husband, Justin of Greenbrier, Sarah Ford and husband, Austin of Greenbrier; Will Honey and wife, Savannah of Tuckerman, Alan Honey of Newport, and Mary Meyers and husband, Nash of Quitman; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a lifetime of friends.

Friends may visit at the funeral home, Monday, 12:00 until 1:30. Graveside services will follow Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Memory Garden Cemetery, with  David Howard officiating.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Derek Haigwood, Paul Blumriech, Will Honey, Alan Honey, Brandon Breeding, Austin Ford, Justin McEntire, and Nash Meyers. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Landreth, Charles Hess, Dale Baughn, Jerry Carlew, Rickey White, Ronnie Smith, and Dale Stokes.
