Batesville Police say someone claiming to be a Batesville police officer is calling local medical professionals as part of an apparent scam.

Police Chief Alan Cockrill said Tuesday the individual identifies himself as a “Sgt. Snider” or a “Jeff Snider” with the BPD. The chief said those making the calls have generated the police department number to show up on Caller ID.

Those being targeted are told by the caller that they have missed a court appearance on a medical case and warrants have now been issued for their arrest.
