Billy Gene Cargill, 94, of Batesville, AR, passed away on May 3, 2022. He was born on July 1, 1927, to Willie Porter Cargill and Ruth (Hill) Cargill.
Billy was a long-time member of Harrison Street Church of Christ and a U.S. Navy Veteran. His work career included working for Hail Dry Goods, Wonder Bread, Coca-Cola, and Playful Quarters. He enjoyed camping, listening to country music, and watching the wildlife at his home.
Billy is survived by sons, Steve Cargill and wife Judy, and Phillip Cargill; daughter, Brenda Fleetwood and husband Karrel, all of Batesville; sisters, Betty Westerfield, Freda Sims, Clara Bufford, and Jerrye Blevins; six grandchildren, Matt and Jon Fleetwood and Jesse Cargill all of Batesville, Ashley Garner of Little Rock, and Megan and Andrew Cargill of Van Buren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 72 years, Dora Cargill; his parents; five brothers; and one sister.
His family gives special thanks to Legacy Hospice and caregiver Christy Saylor.
A graveside service will be held at Mt. Zion Cemetery on Friday, May 6, 2022, at 10 AM with Steve Smith officiating and arrangements handled by Willis Funeral Service.
