William Charles Evans (Bill), 78, of Tuckerman departed this life on Friday, June 10, 2022. He was born on January 25, 1944, to Erman and Edith (Belew) Evans.
Bill was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tuckerman. He graduated from Tuckerman High School in 1962. He was in the United States Air Force from August 29, 1962, until August 28, 1970. Bill was the fire chief for the Tuckerman Fire Department throughout the ’70s and ’80s. He was a member of the VFW and the Tuckerman, Kirkpatrick #192 Masonic Lodge. His joys in life included family reunions, camping, working on old cars and the Jackson County Food Pantry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Rybe Evans and sisters, Kay King and Phyllis Gifford (Charles).
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janie Griffin Evans; his daughters, Stacy Wagner (Randy) of Grubbs and Angela Haskett of Tuckerman; his brothers, Gary Evans (Nancy) of Pine Bluff and Ted Evans (Becky) of Tuckerman; his grandchildren, Stephen Haskett of Tuckerman, Callie Wagner Talley (Trent) of Jonesboro and Will Wagner of Grubbs; his great-grandchildren, Addison Talley and Griffin Talley; special friends, Bobby Bradley, Dickie Morris and Eddie Bonds; numerous nieces and nephews and a lifetime of friends.
The service will be at 2:00 Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Tuckerman United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. John Noggle officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time.
