Ruth Hall Clemmer of East Point, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at the age of 98 in Johns Creek, Georgia. She was born on August 13, 1924, in Newark, Arkansas.

Mrs. Clemmer graduated from Newark High School in 1942 and attended a secretarial school, then worked for Western Union transferring telegrams on roller skates during WWII. She studied computer programming at Atlanta Area Technical College in 1968. Those were the early days of refrigerator-sized computers with reel-to-reel tape and stacks of punch cards housed in cold rooms. She was a programmer for Norfolk Southern in Atlanta until her retirement.

Ruth enjoyed gardening and photography and was an excellent seamstress. She traveled to be with family, eager for any place or activity with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her favorite pastime was a one-on-one conversation on any topic with family and friends. She was an active member of the Civitan Club and the Williamsburg Area Development Association for many years and paid close attention to local politics.

She was preceded in death by her parents William Laban Hall and Devona Catherine Boyce Hall; her brothers Buford Hall, Winfred Hall, Boyce Hall, Stanley Hall, Donald Hall, and William Hall; and her sisters Bonnie Hall, Virginia Buckley, Georgia Smith, and Imogene Roberts.

She is survived by her son, Frank D Clemmer (Anneke) of Hoschton, Georgia, and her daughter, Catherine C Morris (Robert) of Dublin, Georgia; her grandchildren Steven Clemmer (Tamara), Linda Clemmer (Denton Herbik), Megan Morris (Bina Arch), Rob Morris (Amanda), Andrew Morris (Lauren Turner), and Caitlin Morris; five great-grandchildren, Collins, Campbell, Hazel, Olivia, and Caroline; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A graveside celebration of life will be held Friday, August 26, 2022, at 11:00 am at Blue Springs Cemetery in Newark, Arkansas.
