Timmy “Tim” McKinney, 67, of Batesville passed away Friday, August 26, 2022.
He was born July 29, 1955, in Roanoke, Alabama to Billy Everett McKinney and Iva Mae (Page) McKinney.
Tim was devoted to his church, the First United Methodist Church of Batesville. He was a member of the Chaney Fellowship Sunday School Class and he also served as a trustee for many years. Tim spent hours at the church with the staff helping out by fixing or repairing things. Tim used his many talents building homes for Habitat for Humanity and wiring the Christian Health Clinic Building. He loved animals and was a supporter of the Independence County Humane Society. Tim loved to travel with his wife, Joan and they included their children and grandchildren in their adventures. Tim was employed by Future Fuel Chemical Co. (Eastman Kodak) for forty-seven years.
Survivors include his wife, whom he married on May 11, 1991, Joan (Long) McKinney of the home; one daughter, Dr. Meredith McKinney of Fayetteville; his mother, Iva Mae McKinney of Hartman, Arkansas; one step-son, Shayne Gardner (Amanda) of Dallas, Texas; one step-daughter, Leah Rice (Jacob) of Little Rock; two sisters, Debbie James (Joel) of Hartman and Cindy McCollum (Larry) of Russellville; two sisters-in-law, Mary Gardner (Jim Buchanan), June Drain (Wayne); one brother-in-law, Cliff Long III; four grandchildren, Cate and Amelia Rice, Jackson and Charlie Gardner, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy E. McKinney.
Pallbearers are Tony Gunderman, Courtney Lacy, Tim McSpadden, Mike Wilson, Robert James, Justin James, Andy McCollum, and Jason McCollum. Honorary pallbearers are members of the FUMC Chaney Fellowship Sunday School Class.
The service will be Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church at 11:00 am with Pastor Katie Pearce officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 2, 2022, at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
