The Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) helped celebrate Midtown Plaza, a newly-completed six-suite shopping plaza in Batesville with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday.
“We are so proud and excited to open Midtown Plaza and Midtown Market, a farm and art market beside Carlee’s Hallmark,” said Tricia Cargill-Zelasko in a release from the BACC.
The plaza, which is located at 700 Harrison St., is a development project of Cargill and Company Investment Properties, owned by Josephine Cargill and Cargill-Zelasko.
“It took a lot of effort to get to this point. But we had a fantastic team helping us out. We are thankful for the crews who helped us complete this project,” said Cargill-Zelasko.
“It has been amazing to watch Tricia bring her vision to reality,” said BACC President and CEO Crystal Johnson. “Developing and filling commercial space is no small feat, but Tricia and Jo have made it look easy. We proudly welcome Midtown Plaza to the Chamber family and look forward to supporting you for many years.”
Midtown Plaza is home to Smiley’s BBQ, RiverCity Print & Office, Lainey Mae Clothing Co., Crumbs Up Bakery, (the soon-to-be-open) Planet Smoothie, and Midtown Menagerie.
“We are proud to be a woman-owned business,” said Cargill-Zelasko. “The majority of our Midtown Plaza and Midtown Market tenants are women-owned businesses—we are very proud of that.”
Batesville Mayor Rick Elumbaugh concluded the ceremony by recognizing Cargill and Company for their leadership and investment, saying, “Congratulations to Jo and Tricia. We thank you for investing in this business district.”
