A late-morning traffic stop by Searcy Police last Tuesday uncovered over 1,100 fentanyl pills and almost four ounces of methamphetamine, according to the White County Sheriff’s Department.

The sheriff’s department said Searcy officers made the stop on a white Cadillac Escalade at S. Main and W. Beebe-Capps Expressway and requested the department’s K9. Based on the odor of narcotics, the officers searched the vehicle with probable cause and found 1,114 fentanyl pills along with 3.8 ounces of suspected methamphetamine, the department said.

Authorities said both occupants of the vehicle, identified by the department as Tyrone Ellis, 45, and Joshua Haynes, 43, of Newport, were arrested and transported to the county detention center. According to the department, Ellis, the driver of the Escalade, and Haynes, his passenger, were to be held on charges of trafficking a controlled substance. Their bonds were set at $50,000.

The department said the street value of the narcotics is approximately $49,790.
