Two people recently stopped on traffic violations ended up in the Stone County Jail after authorities say they discovered an assortment of illegal drugs and related items in their vehicle.

Sheriff’s deputies stopped a Kia Optima Saturday night on Highway 5 after they observed it speeding and driving on the shoulder of the road.

According to court information, the driver, identified as Danielle Grigg, 34, of Norfork, and the passenger, Jesse R. Bowman, 31, of Searcy, both had search waivers on file. Bowman also had an outstanding warrant from Baxter County.

The court information alleged Bowman had marijuana and a smoking device on his person while deputies also discovered a can with “white powdery residue” and foil with THC concentrate wax in the floorboard of the vehicle.

And when the deputies popped the hood of the Kia, the court documents said a zipper pouch containing two baggies of a white crystalline substance, needles, and pills was discovered inside the car’s air filter.

In their post-Miranda interviews, Grigg and Bowman both denied possession of the items that were located inside the vehicle.

Grigg and Bowman are each facing one felony count of methamphetamine possession with the purpose to deliver and one felony count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Both are being charged as habitual offenders.

Their bonds were set at $40,000 each.
