Holiday fun kicks off tonight in Batesville with the White River Wonderland lights being switched on at 5 p.m. at Riverside Park.

The 2022 display will be open daily from 5 p.m. to midnight. The final chance to see the lights will be on Monday, Jan. 2, 2023.

White River Wonderland features millions of lights and welcomes thousands of visitors each year. Admission to White River Wonderland is free; however, donations are accepted.

Drivers can watch the show from the warmth of their cars as they listen to Christmas tunes on White River Wonderland’s radio station. The entire display is also walkable, with illuminated sidewalks and walking trails. A fully-lit walking trail leads visitors to the light show from the overflow parking lot at the Batesville Community Center.

Main Street Batesville celebrates Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 26. Main Street Batesville (MSB) is rallying behind its merchants during the 2022 Holiday Season and is encouraging area residents to do the same.

MSB merchants are providing a variety of sales for the day, and “The Grinch” will be making an appearance on Main Street from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

New this year to MSB’s Small Business Saturday festivities is a Claus-n-Paws Holiday Market at the Loft, located above the Independence County Library. The market is presented by the Humane Society of Independence County. Approximately 40 local craft and retail vendors will offer a variety of products, such as handmade leather goods, products for the home, and holiday treasures. Claus-n-Paws will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Between 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., MSB and Citizens Bank will hold the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, featuring guests John Parks and Luke Middleton, at the Citizens Bank Pocket Park.

And the Very Melba Christmas movie series continues at the Melba Theater on Main Street. “The Polar Express,” “Rudolph,” and “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” are on the schedule this weekend.
