Obituary: Earl Edward Miller

Earl Edward Miller, 89, of Fox, Arkansas passed away at his home on Thursday, December 15, 2022, in Fox, Arkansas. Earl was born on May 6, 1933, in Middlebury, Indiana to the late William and Laura (Kaufman) Miller. Earl served in the US Army from January 1952 to May 1956 and in the Michigan National Guard from May 1956 to January 1960. On August 17, 1957, he married his wife of 65 � years, Virginia Lucille Treat. His jobs included production at Heyboer Transformers, manager at Friday’s Sunoco, Shop Supervisor and later President at Grand Tran. After moving to Fox in 1977 he raised pigs for a couple of years then maintained the golf course at Greers Ferry Lake, managed the West Stone County Water Association, and closed out a lifetime of hard work maintaining the park and community center at Fox. He was a member of the School Avenue Church of Christ and spent a few years with the North West Turkey Federation. He enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing. He knew how to deliver the punch line in a good joke. He loved and cared for family and friends and helped people that may never have known it was him and the ones that did know became friends for life.

Earl is survived by his wife of 65 � years, Virginia Lucille (Treat) Miller of the home; son, Steve Edward Miller and wife Jill of Fox, Arkansas; Maxine Mae Schmidt and husband Donald of Grand Haven, Michigan, Mary Ellen White of Spring Lake, Michigan, Ruth Ann Williams of Conway, Arkansas, and Sarah Kay Childers of Mountain View, Arkansas; grandchildren, Crystal Marie Wier and husband Chris of Scottsdale, Arizona and Timothy Wayne Miller and wife Elisabeth of Benton Harbor, Michigan; great-grandchildren, Jade Isabella Miller of Scottsdale, Arizona, Ivy Michelle Miller of Benton Harbor, Michigan, and Wren Annalise Miller of Benton Harbor Michigan; brother-in-law, Kenneth Baumgarner of Grand Haven, Michigan, sister-in-law, Janice (Berry) Miller of Rushing, Arkansas and many extended family and friends.

Earl is preceded in death by his parents, William and Laura (Kaufman) Miller; siblings, Paul Jacob Miller and Carrie Baumgarner; and one brother-in-law, Jack Williams.
Visitation is Tuesday, December 20, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Roller Crouch Chapel in Mountain View, Arkansas. Funeral services are Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 1:00 PM at School Avenue Church of Christ with Brother Finis Brewer officiating. A private interment will follow the funeral service.

Military honors are provided by Stone County Honor Guard and the United States Army Funeral Honors Team.
