William “Bill” Homesley, 82, of Benton, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022.
He was born May 19, 1940, in Batesville, Arkansas to William Oscar Homesley, Sr. and Irene M. Dugger Homesley.
Bill was a member of New Life Baptist Church and also belonged to the Congo Masonic Lodge. He loved his family dearly and his dogs, Sierra and Ricco. Bill was a loving and kindhearted man with a gentle spirit; he was the ultimate people person and could talk to anyone. He worked as a Retail Manager for Montgomery Ward for 39 years. He loved music, especially old country music and gospel. He was a musician himself and played the guitar, accordion and harmonica, he also loved to sing Johnny Cash songs. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking; he often enjoyed his time spent at his cabin in Clinton.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Donna Wilhite Homesley of the home; son, William J. Homesley (Andrea) of Benton; four daughters, Rhonda Carnahan (Richard) of Bryant, Robyn Steppig (Brian) of Alexander, Renee Summerville (Russell) of Benton and Sally Parker (Mike) of Chicago, Illinois; brother, Robert Dwayne Homesley of Benton; nine grandchildren, Ashley Lawhon (Travis), Clayton Summerville, Dylan Summerville, Keeleigh Steele (Justin), Madyson Homesley, Conner Homesley, Adam Parker (Kali), Dan Parker and Jen Nelson and six great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jaycee, Stella, Emma, Wyatt, Lochlann and one additional on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Shane Hall and granddaughter, Jessica Hipps.
A private graveside will be held for the family, with Robert Homesley officiating.
There will be a memorial service held at a later date at the New Life Baptist Church in Alexander.
