Obituary: James Bryant Cook

James Bryant Cook, 80, passed away on December 23, 2022. He was born in Vincennes, Indiana, on December 31, 1941, to John and Francis Cook.

J.B. was a retired LPN and master gardener who tended to gardens of all varieties. Although, in his later years, he was known as “the garlic guy” for the incredible garlic he produced. But when he wasn’t gardening, J.B. loved to go to his favorite restaurants: Buttercup’s in Cave City, AR, and China King Buffet and Shipley’s Donuts in Batesville, AR. J.B. was also a devote catholic and a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Lester Cook and Francis Eileen (Wood) Cook; loving wife, Margret Cook; daughter, Terry Rundle; son, Mike Platt; and great-granddaughter, Rylan Cook. He is survived by his daughter, Denise Tompkins of Virginia; sister, Martha Prettyman of Illinois; grandson, Darin Cook of Cave City; cousin, Kinga Cook of Florida; as well as many great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
