Josephine Brandon, 65, of Newport departed this life on Sunday, January 15, 2023. She was born on January 9, 1958, to Booker T. Brandon and Thelma Hardaway.
Josephine attended the Greater Morning Star Church. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards and listening to music. She also liked being outdoors fishing or Barbecuing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Robert Brandon, Roosevelt Brandon, Milton Brandon, Chester Brandon and Richard Brandon; her sisters, Alberta Carter and Shirley Brandon, her niece, Latonya Ellis; her grandson, Demrius Peel and her children’s father and her companion, Joe Roddy Jr.
She is survived by her sons, Jerome Brandon of Rochester, New York and Joe L. Brandon of Newport; her daughters, Joann Brandon of Newport, Crystal Brandon of Newport and Latrice Brandon of Newport; her brothers, Donny Brandon (Denise) of Newport, Albert Brandon of Newport, Edgar Brandon of Newport and Dale Brandon of Orange, Virginia; her sisters, Velma Anders (Levi) of Newport and Bessie Brandon of Newport; seventeen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her caregiver and best friend, Sharon Henry of Newport and a special niece, Felicia Ross of Newport.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Brad Friar, Detrick Brandon, Chris Young and Rocky Murry.
Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Dillinger Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, January 20, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
