Billy Wayne Leonard, 91, of Sulphur Rock passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023, in Batesville. He was born July 26, 1931, in Salado to Ralph and Dishie Mae Varnell Leonard. He was a cattle farmer and owner of Leonard Equipment. He was a member of the Moorefield United Methodist Church. He also worked at the sale barn in Batesville for many years. He loved to buy, sell and trade.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Freda Leonard; a son, Billy George Leonard; a brother, Sammy Ray Leonard; two sisters, Mary Wanda Leonard and Myna Sue Pearce.
Survivors include two brothers, James R. Leonard and Russell Leonard (Martha); two sisters, Melba James and Nancy Rutledge (Keith) as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel with Lavon Long officiating.
Burial will follow at Egner Cemetery located in Southside
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time
Pallbearers will be his nephews: Brett Leonard, Blake Leonard, Jack Freshour, Bobby James, Tim James and Alan Rutledge
Honorary Pallbearers are Sam Coles, Dwayne Coles, Ron Carter, Larry Carter, Ricky Carter, P.D. Carter, Bruce Southard and Dr. Mark Williams
