An exhibition by Batesville artist and Lyon College Arts Professor Dustyn Bork is now underway at the BAAC Gallery on Main, 226 E Main St.

The exhibition, entitled “Plans,” is presented by the Batesville Area Arts Council (BAAC) and will continue through March 11. A gallery reception will be held Friday, Feb. 17, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with Bork giving an informal artist talk at 6 p.m. A BACC members-only Happy Hour will be held from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The BAAC says the exhibition “…is inspired by architecture, modernism, and incidental design in the constructed environment.” “Plans” features two series, including paintings on shaped panels and collages on paper intended to resemble walls and surfaces inspired by places in Batesville.

“I challenged myself to make singular pieces for the exhibition reflecting the nature of buildings being different with each having their own history, life lived, and story to tell,” said Bork. “The color palette reflects the beauty and rich layered history of our city, the oldest continuously occupied in Arkansas.”

Bork is an artist working primarily in printmaking and painting. He was born in Monroe, Mich., and relocated to Batesville to teach studio art and art history courses at Lyon College, where he currently serves as Professor of Art.

He earned his Master of Fine Arts from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including recent solo exhibitions at the Beverly and Sam Ross Gallery at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tenn.; and at the Arts and Science Center in Pine Bluff. His work is represented by Cole Pratt Gallery in New Orleans, La.

The free exhibition is open to the public during BAAC’s regular gallery hours, Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This exhibition is sponsored by First Community Bank.
