On Saturday, May 9, an Arkansas Game and Fish officer reported a fight in progress at an apartment complex across the street from Hometown Market in Melbourne, according to a press release from Izard County Sheriff Jack Yancey. After deputies arrived to assist, Sam Cox, 19, and Dwayne Sedghides, 44, both of Melbourne, were arrested and charged with third-degree battery. They will appear in court July 23.

In other news from Yancey, an 18-year-old Batesville man, Denym Crum, was arrested in Izard County for driving left of center, possession of a controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia. He is scheduled for a district court appearance on July 9.

William Ashworth, 50, of Pineville was arrested by a state trooper on a warrant out of Missouri for probation/parole absconding. And, Kenneth Johnson, 37, of Melbourne, was arrested by Deputy Tyler Webb for disorderly conduct. Johnson was given a court date of July 14 in the Izard County District Court, the release said.
